Holy Thursday Explained

Last edited 13th April 2017

Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, when he established the sacrament of Holy Communion prior to his arrest and crucifixion. It also commemorates His institution of the priesthood. The holy day falls on the Thursday before Easter and is part of Holy Week. Jesus celebrated the dinner as a Passover feast. Christ would fulfil His role as the Christian victim of the Passover for all to be saved by His final sacrifice.

Last edited 13th April 2017

Many people wonder, and even become angry, about God’s ways. In this video for Good Friday, Fr. Mike explains why God’s answers often seem like contradictions to us. Mike explains the damage venial sins do to us and advises us to not become complacent in our sin, no matter how minor it may seem to us, because all sin negatively impacts our relationship with God.

Who would the Holy Family be in our world today? Would you notice them? Would they stand out? Or would you be tempted to judge them? Look away? To see them as a statistic? As one more family who isn’t meeting society's standards of “good enough”?

The Immaculate Conception Explained by Fr Mike Schmitz

Did you know that Mary actually did know her child would save the world? In fact, she was saved around forty-seven years before Jesus died. Fr. Mike Schmitz simplifies the complex theology behind the Immaculate Conception in this video. Using a clever analogy or two, he demonstrates how Scripture alludes to the fact that Mary was immaculately conceived, and he explains why this solemnity is so important to the Church.
