Happiness can be defined as the feeling of pleasure when a need or desire is met. Unhappiness results when we expect that need or desire to be met, and it isn’t. Happiness is a superficial, fleeting emotion. It fades quickly unless the need or desire is met again and again.

Jesus, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, became man for us. Think about it! What an incredible act of love.

Happy New Year! Today is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, and is also World Day of Peace. There is no better way to begin the New Year than to ask for Our Lady's intercession for peace in our broken world. Today is also a good moment to look at our own lives, and reflect on the resolutions we can make to improve our spiritual lives in the year ahead, particularly keeping in mind that we are celebrating a special Jubilee Year of Mercy.
