Following modern trends, Catholic leaders are quickly adapting to social media. Pope Francis has over 14 million Twitter followers. And while, their audience may be smaller, cardinals are also making good use of this new tool. The Archbishop of New York, Card. Timonty Dolan is by far the most popular prelate on the site. Despite not tweeting often, he has over 165,000 followers.

The Vatican has released a new version of the 'Pope App' so that anyone with a cell phone can keep up with Pope Francis. The application is available in five languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
