Young Pilgrims Prepare for WYD with 'MAGIS,' Organized by Jesuits

Roughly 1.5 million people are expected in this year's World Youth Day. But before that big event there's a smaller gathering leading up to the big one in Madrid. It's called MAGIS and it's organized by the Jesuit Order. Watch this video to find out more.

Pope Asks for Prayers for World Youth Day Madrid 2011

During the Angelus, in the pope's summer residence of Castel Gandolfo, Benedict XVI asked all faithful to pray for the upcoming World Youth Day in Madrid, to be held from 16-21 August: "As we approach the celebration of the upcoming World Youth Day in Madrid, I invite you all to ask the Virgin Mary to bring the expected fruits to this meeting."

Lifetime Opportunity For Sydney WYD Pilgrims with Disabilities

There were no wheelchairs in sight or other paraphernalia when a group of eight young pilgrims joined 16 others wearing Madrid World Youth Day's distinctive red T-shirts at the overseas departure terminal at Sydney airport last night and posed for photographs holding the Australian Flag. What most other travellers at the overseas terminal probably didn't realise was that eight of the group of 24 World Youth Day (WYD) pilgrims has a physical or mental disability or that those travelling with them included volunteer carers who will accompany them on this once-in-a-lifetime journey.

Pray for a Priest at World Youth Day

'Aid to the Church in Need' is asking World Youth Day participants to pledge their prayers for priests around the world in need of spiritual support. It needn't be a big commitment – just a few minutes a day while you are in Madrid – but it would be symbolic of solidarity with priests who minister to the faithful in the face of challenges and threats.

Invitation to iCat - A Meeting of WYD Pilgrims to Discuss Social Networking

More than 2 years ago a social network of hundreds of thousands of people was established on the topic of World Youth Day 2011. Now, WYD has arranged meeting, called “iCat”, intended to be an encounter between all those who participate in social networks. The objective is to be a point of encounter of personal experiences of ways in which Catholics live their faith through social networking.
