The Premiere of the Official Hymn of WYD Krakow 2016 on January 6th 2015

The Organizing Committee of World Youth Day Krakow 2016 is delighted to announce that the premiere of the official hymn of WYD Krakow 2016 will take place on January 6th 2015, the Solemnity of the Epiphany, at the end of the traditional Procession of the Three Kings.

Donate a WYD2016 "Ticket for a Brother"

Ticket for a brother (TfB) is an outreach project for pilgrims living in the East that was initiated by Polish volunteers shortly after 2013 WYD in Rio de Janeiro. Its goal is to raise funds for the Eastern youth to allow them to participate in the WYD in Poland in 2016. Countries taken into account for our project are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

During their launch event, which took place in Sydney on 26 November 2014, Selina Hasham shared her World Youth Day story - and challenged the participants to find their own story with by reflecting on the question: "What is your World Youth Day story". With just over 18 months to go before Poland's ancient city of Krakow hosts World Youth Day in 2016, Catholic Youth Services (CYS) is holding a special WYD information evening for Sydney pilgrims on Wednesday, 26 November.


The Life of St. Faustina, Polish Saint & WYD Patron

On October 5, 1938, a young religious by the name Sister Faustina (Helen Kowalska) died in a convent of the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Krakow, Poland. She came from a very poor family that had struggled hard on their little farm during the terrible years of WWI. Sister had had only three years of very simple education. Hers were the humblest of tasks in the convent, usually in the kitchen or the vegetable garden, or as a porter.

There are already many stories of people from around the world, as well as young people from Poland, who are giving up their time to be volunteers for the next international World Youth Day, which will take place in Krakow in 2016. By 2016 there will be more than 20,000 volunteers!
