More than 70,000 people flocked to St. Peter's Square for the Pope's weekly general audience. For about 45 minutes, the Pope greeted the crowds. As part of his catechesis on the Year of Faith, the Pope talked about the power of the Holy Spirit, inviting people to learn to listen.

During Wednesday's general audience, Pope Francis focused his catechesis on the 'Year of Faith. ' With more than 30,000 pilgrims gathered in St. Peter's Square, the Pope talked about Jesus' Resurrection and the role women play in transmitting the faith.

During Wednesday's general audience, Benedict XVI reflected on why God is called 'Father.' The Pope explained that the Gospel uses the term to reflect on the generosity, forgiveness and mercy of a parent. The Pope also added that when parents find themselves having trouble caring and raising their children, they too, can seek the example of God, the Father, to overcome these challenges.

In his Wednesday General Audience, Pope Benedict pointed to the legacy of Abraham as an example of the Christian’s longing for the “true homeland” of heaven and as the “first great role model” of having faith in God: “Abraham, the believer, teaches us faith and, like a stranger on earth, points out our true homeland. Faith makes us pilgrims on earth, situated in the world and in history, but on the path toward our heavenly homeland".
