The Vatican has published the English translation of Pope Benedict XVI's address to the priests of Rome last Thursday. It has some interesting personal reflections on the Council. As well, he said that during this Year of Faith we need to continue working for the renewal of the Church. Benedict XVI is the last Pope who had personal experience of Vatican II so his thoughts on this important event are of particular relevance.

During Wednesday's general audience, Benedict XVI reflected on why God is called 'Father.' The Pope explained that the Gospel uses the term to reflect on the generosity, forgiveness and mercy of a parent. The Pope also added that when parents find themselves having trouble caring and raising their children, they too, can seek the example of God, the Father, to overcome these challenges.
