On the last day of his pontificate, Benedict XVI will be filmed live by television cameras during his final hours in the Vatican, according to Monsignor Edoardo María Viganó, director of the Vatican Television Center (VTC), who explained that the Pontiff's departure to Castel Gandolfo by helicopter "will be a historic moment."

Pope Benedict has been responsible for the conversion, reversion, vocation and the deepening of faith of many young Catholics. Pope Benedict will be truly missed by our generation. Those who have met him look upon him fondly as a gentle grandfatherly figure, as he has pointed us towards Christ, at a point in time when many of us were at a crossroads, telling us not to settle for second best, but to strive for sainthood.

The Vatican has published the English translation of Pope Benedict XVI's address to the priests of Rome last Thursday. It has some interesting personal reflections on the Council. As well, he said that during this Year of Faith we need to continue working for the renewal of the Church. Benedict XVI is the last Pope who had personal experience of Vatican II so his thoughts on this important event are of particular relevance.
