ICE2016 - Your Chance to Participate in a New WYD Event!

In addition to Days of Diocese, a separate evangelical programme has been designed to run a week before WYD 2016 proper in the city of Krakow itself called ICE2016. This 1 week programme is open to groups from all over the world. Details of the programme are below:

The Australian Catholic Youth Festival is a national gathering of Catholic young people established by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. This year's Festival will take place in Adelaide from 3-5 December 2015.

Relic of Saint John Paul ll to Come to Australia

Polish Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz met with Sydney's Archbishop Anthony Fisher in Kraków on Tuesday 9th of June to discuss World Youth Day 2016. At the conclusion of the meeting Archbishop Anthony Fisher was presented with a relic of Saint Pope John Paul II. The relic is a drop of Pope John Paul II's blood.

Corpus Christi Celebrations in World Youth Day's Host City

The city of Krakow, which will host World Youth Day next year, held its annual Corpus Christi celebration through the city streets on Thursday 4 June 2015. This annual procession takes place every year on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ; that is, 60 days after Easter or on the first day following Trinity Sunday.

June is the month traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Besides celebrating a feast in his honour on June 12, we will honour the Immaculate Heart of his mother the next day. These celebrations call us to have hearts like theirs—totally open to the love of the Father who loves each person and sent the Son to offer his life for the salvation of all. As members of the Body of Christ, the Church, we are called to share the concerns and desires of the Heart of Jesus.

INcounter is the name the Australian Catholic Youth Festival has given to its expo. INcounter aims to provide an interactive space for participants to encounter the breadth of the Catholic Church of Australia in new and unexpected ways. INcounter will be a hive of activity which young people will return to again and again, from stalls to music and activities. It will be the place to be.

Borrowed Time: An Age of Mercy

Pope Francis walked to the holy doors in St Peter’s Basilica, which are opened only a few times each century, and convoked the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.This Holy Year of Mercy begins in December. For the duration of the year, the holy doors in Rome’s basilicas will be open, symbolising the extraordinary pathways to grace available to the Church during the holy year.
