Pope Francis: Use Social Media to Promote the Gospel

Pope Francis met with roughly 80 people, during the plenary assembly of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. They traveled all the way to Rome to discuss the role of the Church and the way it communicates. He insisted that the use of social media is crucial to connecting with people who are in some way disappointed in Christianity.

The Pope stuns once again. Italian newspaper 'La Repubblica' published an extensive letter by Pope Francis, where he addresses journalist and newspaper founder, Eugenio Scalfari. In his response letter, Pope Francis explains that truth is not an absolute concept possessed by Christians, but rather a goal they strive to reach. Jesus is the way, the truth and life, says the Pope, adding that the only way to reach truth, is through a personal relationship with God.

A month after the end of WYD Rio 2013, the event's impact on the Pope's Twitter account is very noticeable. In August, the account @Pontifex grew by more than 585,000 followers. In the months before, the account added an average of 240,000 followers per month. In other words, during the month of August, it grew twice as fast.
