The fourth Sunday of Easter is Good Shepherd Sunday, and this year it fell on 26 April 2015. It is also the annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations! Prayer is an essential ingredient for vocations. Pope Francis once said that behind and before every vocation to the priesthood or consecrated life, there is always the strong and intense prayer of someone... vocations are born in prayer and from prayer, and only through prayer can they persevere and bear fruit. John Paul II's Special Bond with World Youth Day

Last edited 12th March 2015

World Youth Day was initiated by Pope John Paul II, who was convinced that young people need more good advice from the Church; but rather, they also need someone to accompany them and teach them how to express themselves in the best way. This is how World Youth Day was born, and as a result a special relationship was developed between the Holy Father and the young people of the world. WYD2016 in Krakow will continue this legacy, with Saint John Paul II named as the patron Saint.
