WYD: Vatican and Italy lend Da Vinci, Caravaggio pieces for Brazil exhibit

Last edited 21st April 2013

This coming July, Rio de Janeiro will become not just the capital city for youth worldwide, but also for art. For the first time ever, more than 100 works housed in the Vatican and several Italian museums will travel to Brazil, as well.

The exhibit is titled 'In the footsteps of the Lord,' and will be on display at the Nation Museum of Fine Arts, from June 11 to September 15. It will feature works from Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, and even this important piece from Sistine Chapel's sacristy, the Mandylion of Edessa, the first icon in Christian history.
