Evangelical youth from WYD 2013 enters Catholic Church

A year after greeting Pope Francis in Rio de Janeiro for World Youth Day 2013, Evangelical youth Eduardo Campos has converted to Catholicism and entered the Church on Pentecost Sunday.

The 19 year-old made headlines in July of 2013 when he appeared on television with a sign that read: “Holy Father, I am an Evangelical but I love you! Pray for me and for Brazil. You are Peter.”

After the experience of World Youth Day, Campos began his path to conversion. In December, he announced his decision to join the Catholic Church.

On Sunday, almost one year after World Youth Day, he received Baptism and First Communion, in the presence of his family and friends at a parish in Rio de Janeiro.
