Pakistani Bishops Ask Vatican to Recognize Bhatti as a Martyr

The Episcopal Conference of Pakistan gathered in a five day assembly and sent an official request to the Vatican to recognize Shahbaz Bhatti as a “martyr and patron of religious freedom.” Bhatti was the highest ranking Catholic official in Pakistan's government before his assassination in early March. It's believed he was killed by Muslim extremists due to his opposition of Pakistan's blasphemy law and his defense of Asia Bibi, the woman sentenced to death for violating this law.

It seems that almost all Muslims are Muslim extremists. Something should be done about Muslims in Australia. If they don't want to assimilate they should be sent back to where they came from. Do you want to see Australia turned into a Muslim country? ....not me!!

Albert I understand your comments but that is a huge generalisation. There are plenty of Muslims that I know firsthand, who desperately want to assimilate and spread tolerance and peace - but they keep getting shut down by Australians who wrongly judge all Muslims as extremists.

Australia will never be a Muslim country as the clear majority Australians will never accept Muslim laws and customs, and while we should certainly object to extreme Muslim behaviour, we should not be unjust to Muslims themselves. Just as we expect Muslims to respect Christians living in Muslim countries - we should do the same. They are still children of God.

Mary , It's nice that you think the way that you do but seriously , the Muslim situation is getting way out of hand. There seems to be more Muslim extremists around than 'good' Muslims.....and a lot of times these 'good' Muslims turn into Muslim extremists.
I used to think the way you do but now the greater Muslim population have proven themselves to be trouble-makers and often murders.
Just look at the recent riots in Afghanistan. They were supposed to be 'good' Muslims but they turned into a deranged crowd that killed in anger, over the burning of their holy book , the Koran.

Dear Albert:

You say that in Afghanistan they were supposed to be "good" Muslims and now look at them and what they have done. It's been knows for years that there is a problem with extremist groups in Afghanistan, so there is nothing in the latest news that is some shock revelation that would provide you with a motive to suddenly change your views.

Moreover, the example you use undermines your own argument. The recent riot you refer to was sparked off by an extreme Protestant pastor burning a copy of what he said was the Koran. Preaching hatred of others only spurs conflict.
