On 1 June 2012, Pope Benedict XVI arrived in Milan, to attend the World Meeting of Families. He was welcomed by children with a bouquet of flowers, as well as the Cardinal Angelo Scola, Archbishop of Milan, and Cardinal Ennio Antonelli, president of the Pontifical Council for the Family. From 1-3 June, the Holy Father: met with the citizens of Milan in Duomo Square; attended a concert in his honor, held a meeting with candidates for confirmation at "Meazza" Stadium; and closed the 2012 World Meeting of Families with a Mass in Bresso Park, where he announced that next World Meeting of Families will take place in Philadelphia in 2015.
