WYD2016 Blog 6 - A Pilgrim's Guide to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in the south of Poland is a place of prayer and reflection as you walk around the 42 chapels featuring meditations and Stations of the Cross. You can reflect on God's love and Mercy as you walk through the tranquil landscape and meditate on Christ's Passion.

This pilgrimage site is very important to the Polish people, Kalwaria Zebrzydowska played a great role in the spiritual life of Pope John Paul ll who would go there with his father as a young boy. When Pope John Paul ll's mother passed away his father took him on pilgrimage to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska and showed him the holy icon of Our Lady of Kalvaria and told him "Karol this is now your Mother."
