I Was Nearly Aborted

My mother was having a lot of trouble with me during her pregnancy. Already a mother to two young children and wife of a loving husband, she had a lot going for her. Several times, she thought she had miscarried. After these constant issues continued, her doctor ran some tests, which revealed a high likelihood that I would be born with Down’s Syndrome and severe chromosomal defects. In fact, the doctor had said, giving birth to me could even kill my mother.

Vic Parliament Passes Laws Aimed at "Moving on" 40 Days for Life in Melbourne

This week, the Australian State of Victoria passed amendments to the Summary Offences Act 1966. The effect of the law is to extend the "move on" powers of police or protective services officers. In an article carried in The Age, Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle expressed delight that these new laws would help remove pro-life advocates holding vigils outside abortion clinics.

Earlier this week, Renee Young and Simon Howie appeared on A Current Affair. Approximately 4 weeks ago, at a routine ultrasound, Renee and Simon found out that their unborn child had two legs, two arms, one body and one heart. Above the neck, though, the child is conjoined – with two faces on one skull. The child also has two brains, connected via one stem.

Parents Fight to Save Unborn Baby with Two Brains

Parents of an unborn child with two faces and two brains are defying doctors' advice to terminate the pregnancy. Renee Young and Simon Howie, of Tregear in Sydney's west, said they were shocked when a routine ultrasound revealed the twins they were expecting were in fact only one child, but with a very big difference.
