I'm Gay, but I'm Not Switching to a Church That Supports Gay Marriage
Last edited 31st May 2013

When I became Catholic in 1998, as a college sophomore, I didn't know any other gay Christians. I'd been raised in a kind of pointillist Reform Judaism, almost entirely protected from homophobia; when I realized I was gay it was, if anything, a relief. I thought I finally had an explanation for the persistent sense of difference I'd felt since early childhood. This sheltered upbringing may help explain my sunny undergraduate confidence that even though I knew of literally nobody else who had ever tried to be both unashamedly gay and obediently Catholic, I was totally going to do it. No problem, guys, I got this.

What is Emotional Chastity?
Last edited 13th May 2013

Chastity is not just about our physical sexual desires, it about so much more than that. Because we aren’t just bodies – we are bodies, hearts, minds, and souls, and chastity is about purity in all of those areas. Emotional chastity is about guarding the purity of our hearts and minds . . . which can sometimes be just as challenging as guarding the purity of our bodies.

The Australian Federal Government's decision to consider subsidising RU 486 (mifepristone) or the Abortion Pill as it is popularly-known by placing it on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme is a return to the dangerous days of illegal back street abortions in the 1950s and early 60s.

Contraceptive Pill Dangers - Women Speak Out About Severe Side Effects & Deaths
Last edited 2nd May 2013

Professor Kerryn Phelps was the president of the Australian Medical Association when she was prescribed a drug that nearly killed her. The drug in question is Yaz or Yasmin - a contraceptive pill that hit the market in 2008 promising to clear up acne and reduce monthly symptoms. Australians were blissfully unaware of the thousands of women in the US who had reported severe side effects from Yaz and Yasmin. The side effects included heart attacks, strokes, blindness and deadly blood clots.
