Addicted to Birth Control

Last edited 29th July 2014

I have had medical issues with my cycles since they started at the age of 12. For a year I was too embarrassed to tell my mom, or anyone outside of my journal, that just about everything was wrong with them. You name it; I probably experienced it.

One Woman Had Enough of Catcalling on the Street. Here’s What She Does to Her Hecklers.

Last edited 23rd July 2014

Women walking down the street, especially in larger cities, are likely accustomed to some mild catcalling or comments directed toward them from complete strangers. Most of these women ignore their hecklers, but not Lindsey. Lindsey, a 28-year-old from Minneapolis who only is identified by her first name, confronts the people making unwanted comments, accusing them of “street harassment.”

Help Me Get to Heaven: A Guy's Perspective On Modesty

Last edited 2nd July 2014

In all my years I have seen nothing come close to the visual beauty of the female form… not the Grand Canyon, an Irish castle, a Ferrari F50, or a bald eagle with a butterfly halo riding a gazelle through a vast meadow of lilies at dawn (although tweeting that pic would certainly get more likes than my sister’s last bathroom selfie).

Women Swiftly Running Out Of Things That Aren’t Sexy

I expect the world to go about its regular denigration of women — I just wish members of the Church would stop helping them.

Millions of “Leftover Women” in China

Last edited 13th May 2014

A while ago on Demography is Destiny, we discussed the shortage of young women in China (due mainly to sex selective abortions exacerbated by the one-child policy) and the paradoxical phenomenon of “shengnu” (leftover women): young women who can’t find a husband. In that blogpost we explained this as due to women wanting to find husbands who were higher than them on the financial, educational, and social status ladders. As women in China upskill and become better educated and have better employment prospects, the chance of a woman finding a husband higher than her on these ladders decreases.
