First Female Ambassador from Spain to the Vatican

The Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero has appointed a new female ambassador to the Vatican. Maria Jesus Figa has a prestigious diplomatic career, and until recently was the under-secretary of Foreign Affairs. She's replacing Francisco Vazquez, who served as ambassador for five years, managing to maintain a steady relationship between Zapatero and the Vatican.

This Brave Woman - Saint Josephine Bakhita

One of the worst evils in our world is the trafficking of human beings. On 8 February the Church honours a woman who was kidnapped in the late 1800s at the age of 7, and sold as a slave. She became a brave and magnificent woman - and a great saint! Let us ask Saint Josephine Bakhita to intercede and protect slaves around the world.

Who do you look to as an example for purity? In this video, young Catholics talk about the Saints that inspire them to live purity. We hear about the example of St Joseph - who despite living in Israel 2000 year ago, is example of living a manly and pure life for every modern male. We also hear the story of St Maria Goretti, which may seem exceptional, but modern women today are increasingly faced with the same dilemmas against purity.
