Mother Agreda: Spiritual Adviser to the King and Evangelist of America

When St. Junípero Serra de Mallorca went to evangelize in the United States, he took only two books with him. The Bible and the "Mystical City of God,” a biography of Our Lady, written by Mother Ágreda. This 17th century Spanish nun is considered a great mystic.

Born in the small town of Soria, her house was converted into a convent. Her siblings, just like her, were also religious. She was the spiritual adviser to King Philip IV of Spain. In a way she was also an evangelist of America. She achieved all this without ever leaving her convent in Spain since, according to tradition, she had the gift of bi-location.
